Purpose:
Demonstrate the phase difference between the current and the voltage across the capacitor in a series RC circuit.
Parts:
- Demo oscilloscope
- Signal Generator
- Breadboard/few capacitors/Resistor
- BNC cables
Setup:
Schematic(above) and the circuit on the breadboard(below).
Yellow curve (Ch1 of the oscilloscope) displays voltage across the resistor (which is proportional to the current through the circuit/capacitor) —> 1V/mA.
Red curve (Math) displays V(ch1-ch2) which is voltage across the capacitor Vc.
